Children aged 5-7 years

Key Stage 1 is comprised of Year 1 and Year 2 classes.  Here, the children build on the foundations established in EYFS.  They continue to develop literacy and numeracy skills and are introduced to a more structured approach to learning, incorporating subjects such as science, design & technology, history, geography and art.

For much of the day the work is based in the children’s own classrooms with their Class Teacher and they continue to have the advantage of specialist tuition in French, ICT, Swimming, Sport and Music.  The Key Stage 1 classes are located in a purpose built block which boasts a wide selection of age-appropriate equipment to encourage independent learning.
